National engineering laboratory

National engineering laboratory (hereinafter referred to as “Laboratory”) is an R&D entity jointly established by Kingfa Science & Technology Co., Ltd., South China University of Technology and other famous universities and research institutions in China with the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, an important part of the national scientific and technological innovation system. The Laboratory will focus on the demands in automotive, aerospace, transportation, electronics and other key industries, primary industries, emerging industries. It is responsible for  research and processing equipment for high-efficiency plastic mixing modification, synthesis modification and processing technology as well as testing equipment for evaluation and analysis With the help of the Laboratory an advanced plastic modification and processing research and public service platform and a first-class scientific research and development team (in the industry), will be established, responsible for break throughs concerning  key general technologies within the industry, and the improvement of the technological level of plastic modification and processing in our country and its international competitiveness. At the same time, based on the mechanism of “protecting key technologies and sharing general technologies”, it will promote the research and development achievements to be applied in the industry and the transformation, upgrading and rapid development of plastic modification and processing industries.

Organizational structure of the laboratory

The laboratory director is responsible for the operation and management of the laboratory under the leadership of the council. The council is the supreme decision-making body and consists of management and technical experts from the relevant competent departments, research institutes and colleges, and supporting units and departments.

Functions and tasks

The laboratory will build an advanced plastic modification and processing research and public service platform, establish a first-class scientific research and development team (in the industry), develop a batch of key general technologies in the industry, and improve the technological level of plastic modification and processing in our country and its international competitiveness. Its main functions and tasks are as follows:

1. Solve technological difficulties in the development of the plastics industry and enhance the international competitiveness of the plastics industry

The laboratory can strengthen the industry`s original technology innovation ability in plastic modification and processing, do good in forward deployment of important strategic and prospective fields, develop and master a batch of strategic high-tech and cutting-edge technologies, and grasp major technical equipment and key industrial technologies, relieve economic and social development from the constrains of technical bottlenecks, enhance the international competitiveness of the plastics industry, and speed up the development of the plastics industry.

2. Promote the establishment of a technical innovation system and improve the sustainable innovation ability in the plastics industry

The laboratory gradually establishes a domestic leading and international advanced industrial technological innovation system through integrating domestic excellent scientific research and industrial resources and uniting and cultivating outstanding talents in plastic modification, molding and processing, equipment and other sectors in our country to enhance the sustainable innovation ability.

3. Promote the transformation of research results into industrialization and promote the great leap-forward development of the industry

The laboratory can effectively integrate scientific and technological resources in the plastic modification and processing industry in our country, optimize the allocation of scientific and technological resources, innovate the technical service system, and promote to establish a “seamless transformation” research channel and a great leap-forward development of the industry.
